ERASMUS+ TRAINEESHIP MOBILITY
The activity involves a student enrolled in a higher education institution undertaking a traineeship at an enterprise abroad. A “traineeship” is the period during which a participant receives vocational training and/or gains work experience within a company or organization in another program country. Traineeship activity is not intended to be used for academic research, analytical work, or similar tasks conducted as part of a study program. Instead, it is designed to provide the student with hands-on work experience in a field relevant to their vocational education.
The traineeship does not have to be a mandatory component of the student's diploma program. However, the economic sector in which the traineeship is conducted must be related to the student’s current field of study. The activity duration is between 2 and 12 months per study cycle. Students may participate in a traineeship either during their studies or within 12 months following graduation, provided that the application is made while they are still students (e.g., during the second year of associate degree or fourth year of undergraduate study). Students who have already graduated cannot apply.
Students receive financial support for the duration of their traineeship abroad. This grant is non-repayable but is not intended to cover all expenses—only to support additional costs resulting from the mobility. Students may also participate as zero-grant Erasmus students if they wish. In cases where the receiving institution is a higher education institution, it is treated as a host enterprise, and therefore it does not need to hold an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE).
Eligible Traineeship Institutions
Host organizations for traineeships may include enterprises, training centers, research centers, and other organizations fitting the definition of an enterprise. In this context, an eligible enterprise refers to any public or private organization—regardless of size, legal status, or economic sector—including initiatives involved in the social economy and other economic activities.
Duration of the Activity
The duration of the activity must be between 2 and 12 months. However, in order to allow more students to benefit from traineeship mobility, our university has limited the grant-funded traineeship period to 2 months. If the funding allocated by the National Agency is sufficient, full-period grant support may be reconsidered.
Students are allowed to extend their Erasmus mobility without grant support. These zero-grant periods are subject to the same Erasmus rules and conditions. A student may receive up to 12 months of Erasmus+ mobility grant per education level, regardless of the number and type of activities.
